The Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church has glorified Catholicos-Patriarch Anthony II (Bagrationi) of Mtskheta and eastern Georgia, the last head of the Mtskheta Patriarchate prior to its abolition by the Russian Empire, as a martyr. St. Anthony's feast day has been established as 21 December (3 January by the new style). More
