Bishop Cyrus of the Mojave

I recently came across accounts of the life and labors of a righteous member of the Coptic Orthodox Church in North America, Bishop Cyrus/Karas (al-Anba Bishoy) of St. Anthony's Monastery in the Mojave Desert, here and here. May his memory be eternal!

Pictured is Anba Karas after his consecration to the episcopacy.

  1. Bishop Karas was an amazing person. He lived with us for 3 years, the last 3 years of his life when he was sick with cancer. He always had a smile on his face and thankful for everything he had. Although his pain from his sickness was beyond bearable. He is loving and caring and always made me feel loved by God. His faith was strong, loved God with all his heart. After his departure, i felt him in my life, dreamed of him. He is what I thrive to become, hope to see him again soon. Please pray for us Sayedna. Thank you for this blog!

  2. "Wondrous is God in His Saints." Thank you for sharing about Anba Karas! It gave me great joy to learn about his life - may his prayers be with us all! Is he buried at the Monastery? I'm hoping the next time I'm in California to make a pilgrimage there.
