Gospels Given to Bessarabian Students

The Metropolitanate of Cluj is donating books of the Gospels with basic prayers to students in Moldova in memory of the newly reposed Metropolitan Bartolomeu (Anania) of Cluj. More here.

Council of Cluj Metropolitanate Meets under Patriarch

Patriarch Daniel of Bucharest has presided over a meeting of the Metropolitan Council of the Metropolitanate of Cluj. The Metropolitanate will observe the customary forty days of mourning for the newly reposed Metropolitan Bartolomeu (Anania) of Cluj before beginning the process of nominating its next metropolitan. 29 Hierarchs Serve at Metropolitan Bartolomeu's Funeral

The funeral services for Metropolitan Bartolomeu (Anania) of blessed memory were celebrated today at Cluj's Holy Dormition Cathedral by Patriarch Daniel (Ciobotea) of Bucharest and 28 hierarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The services were also attended by the Romanian Catholic bishop in Cluj and a number of government officials. Following the memorial Divine Liturgy and funeral Vladica Bartolomeu was buried in the crypt of the cathedral beneath the holy altar. More here.

Preparations for the funeral of Metropolitan Bartolomeu (Anania) of Cluj have begun in Cluj with Vespers and a memorial served by Patriarch Daniel (Ciobotea) of Bucharest and attended by President Traian Basescu of Romania, many hierarchs of the Church of Romania, and the Orthodox faithful of Cluj. Funeral Arrangements for Metropolitan Bartolomeu of Cluj

It has been announced that the funeral of Metropolitan Bartolomeu (Anania) of Cluj will be held this Thursday (3 February) at Cluj's Cathedral of the Dormition. Until the election of a new metropolitan Patriarch Daniel (Ciobotea) will serve as locum tenens of the metropolitanate. More here.

Metropolitan Bartolomeu of Cluj Reposes

Metropolitan Bartolomeu (Anania) of Cluj fell asleep in the Lord today. Upon learning of Vladica Bartolomeu's repose Patriarch Daniel (Ciobotea) of Bucharest stated that he was "a defender of the Orthodox Faith." The late metropolitan was a voice for Tradition within the Church of Romania and was one of the front runners in the patriarchal elections that resulted in the more pro-Western Vladica Daniel being elected patriarch.
