St. Photina the Samaritan Woman
Joyous feast! St. Photina, alternately known in Rus' as Svetlana and in the Arabic-speaking world as Fatima (I'm not sure why - in Arabic Fatima means "abstinence", whereas Photina and Svetlana both mean "light"), was the Samaritan woman who met the Lord at St. Jacob's Well. After choosing to follow the Christ, St. Photina went on to preach the Gospel in Carthage, leading to her being called 'Equal to the Apostles,' and to be martyred together with her children and sisters in Rome under the Emperor Nero. More on her life can be found here. May her blessing and prayers be with us all!
