OCA Youth Department to be Represented at 2011 Cornerstone Festival

The youth and young adult ministry department of the American Orthodox Church (OCA) will be participating this year in the Cornerstone Festival, an Evangelical Protestant music festival that generally features a number of bands, speakers, and other performers each year. The department has been okayed by the Festival's director to have a booth at the event and also celebrate daily Vespers and Matins as well as a Divine Liturgy. More here.

Grabarka Monastery Hosts 32nd Youth Pilgrimage

The 32nd annual Polish Orthodox youth pilgrimage was held this past weekend at the Mount Grabarka Monastery of Sts. Mary and Martha in eastern Poland with the participation of clergymen of the Polish and Belorussian Orthodox Churches. More (in Russian) here.

Coptic Orthodox Youth Organizations Agree to Meet with Muslim Brotherhood

Three Coptic Orthodox youth organizations have agreed to dialogue with representatives of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood. Another Coptic Orthodox youth organization, the Coptic Youth Movement, refuses to meet with the Brotherhood until it apologizes for treating Copts as second-class citizens in their own country. St. Petersburg Diocese Opening Youth Rehabilitation Center

The Eparchy of St. Petersburg has opened the first rehabilitation center for juvenile prisoners in Russia. The center will be opened in a prison near St. Petersburg in cooperation with the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation. More here.

Malankara Orthodox Holy Synod Hears Appeal on English-Language Service Books

During its winter session, which started today, the Holy Synod of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be considering an appeal from a senior clergyman of the Church in the United States that concrete steps be taken immediately to publish the services of the West Syrian Rite followed by the Malankara Orthodox Church in English so that the Church's youth abroad aren't lost to sects. The Church has considered the issue in the past, but nothing has yet to materialize on an official level. More here.
