Appeal for Thailand Flooding Victims

The head of the Orthodox Church in Thailand, Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), has issued an appeal for assistance to be provided to Thailand, which is experiencing its worst flooding in 50 years. The flooding has caused an estimated $2 billion in damages and affected roughly 8.2 million people. The full appeal can be found here.

Malankara Orthodox Outreach in Bangkok

An outreach of the Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church has been organized in Bangkok, Thailand, for the Malankara Orthodox faithful there. The first Divine Liturgy was held on 3 April. Orthodox faithful in Thailand interested in participating in the mission should contact 0065-81891415. More here.

Ratchaburi Monastery Opened in Thailand

Holy Dormition Monastery in Ratchaburi, Thailand, has been officially opened! Some beautiful pictures from the opening of the Monastery and the blessing of its church together a full write-up of the ceremonies in Russian can be found here . So far the Monastery's brotherhood includes novices from Laos, Romania, and Russia as well as from Thailand itself. The full consecration of the Monastery's church is expected to celebrated by Archbishop Mark of Yegorevsk, auxiliary to the patriarch, in November of this year.

Domes Blessed for Orthodox Monastery in Thailand

Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), head of the expanding Russian Orthodox missionary presence in Thailand, has blessed the domes to be erected over the church, cemetery chapel, and gate of the men's Monastery of the Dormition currently under construction in Ratchaburi, Thailand.

Thai Orthodox Church Congratulates Rama IX on Birthday

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church in Thailand, Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), congratulated King Rama IX of Thailand on his recent birthday. Although the king is Buddhist, he is the protector of all the faiths present in Thailand and is indirectly commemorated in the divine services of the Thai Orthodox Church. More here.
