Maronite Catholic Patriarch Attends Reception Hosted by Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese

As part of his ongoing visit to the United States the head of the Maronite Catholic Church, Patriarch Beshara Rai of Antioch, has attended a reception in his honor hosted by Metropolitan Philip (Saliba) of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America and attended by the Archdiocese's auxiliary bishops as well as several Maronite Catholic hierarchs and Muslim ulama (clergymen). Update (29/10/2011): The next day Metropolitan Philip, Metropolitan Mor Cyril (Karim) of the Syriac Orthodox Archdiocese of the Eastern United States, and Antiochian Orthodox auxiliary Bishop Antoun (Khouri) of Miami attended the Sunday Liturgy celebrated by Patriarch Bechara at the Maronite Catholic cathedral in Brooklyn. Assyrian Patriarch Meets with Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan in New York

Catholicos-Patriarch Mar Dinkha IV of the Assyrian Church of the East has received Syriac Orthodox Metropolitan Mor Cyril (Aphrem) of Teaneck during his pastoral visit to Assyrian parishes in metropolitan New York. During their meeting the two hierarchs discussed the past and present trials faced by their churches as well as their hopes for future rapproachement between the two sister churches. More here.

Syriac Orthodox, Assyrian Christian Hierarchs Meet in California

Metropolitans Mor Clemis (Eugene) of Burbank and Mor Cyril (Aphrem) of Teaneck of the Syriac Orthodox Church in the United States have met with Bishop Mar Awa (Royel) of Modesto of the Assyrian Church of the East to discuss the ongoing theological dialogues between the two churches aimed at overcoming their Christological differences so that the Assyrian and Suryoyo people, who speak dialects of the same Syriac language, can be united again in faith. Syriac Orthodox Metropolitans Consecrate Long Island Church

This past Bright Saturday Syriac Orthodox Metropolitans Mor Cyril (Aphrem) of Teaneck and Mor Polycarpus (Eugene) of Glane concelebrated the consecration of St. Peter's Church on New York's Long Island. Nearly four hundred faithful attended the services in addition to the concelebrating priests and deacons. More here.
